Launched out of beta in February 2024, Yolk is a social app that eschews messaging in favour of visual communication using custom generated stickers.
Again, there are no text messages available on the platform. Instead, users have a selection of AI tools at their disposal they can use to generate custom stickers. Anything the user takes a photo of on their phone can be made into a sticker – their face, their surroundings, a pet, a building, or any other object. Quick-fire editing tools allow users to add effects as well as mix and match combinations of imagery to create weird and wonderful visual collages and video clips.
More geared to sharing feelings, reactions and emotions than in-depth discussions, the stickers are reminiscent of the custom emotes used on Twitch chat, offering a shorthand way for communities to communicate in surprisingly nuanced ways.
Users can create a profile page consisting of a curated selection of stickers and animated selfies, providing a space to show off their favourites and express themselves.
