In July 2025, Chinese media giant Tencent Cloud launched CodeBuddy IDE, an AI-powered integrated development environment that is now in international internal beta. It lets users go from app concept to deployment using natural language instructions – with absolutely no coding knowledge required.
CodeBuddy uses a fully automated “conversation-is-programming” approach, which enables virtually any user to go through the process of developing a programme or app. The combination of natural language dialogue and AI, without having to write any line of code as a user, boosts efficiency in building applications. Users can go from product concept, design, coding, debugging, to full deployment.
Its international versions integrate a number of overseas-developed AI models such as Claude, OpenAI and Gemini. The domestic version (China) includes Hunyuan and those from DeepSeek, with a focus on dialogue programming. Projects that are completed through CodeBuddy can be deployed by developers via Tencent’s CloudStudio, an IDE that provides a link for users to access their applications across different devices.
Tencent claims it is the first full process AI-integrated development workbench, underscoring how Chinese cloud providers are racing to productize end-to-end AI engineering stacks.
