French start-up AniML has launched a new 3D capture app, Doly, allowing online sellers and marketers to create professional-looking product videos and generate 3D models using only their phones.
Creating 3D models has traditionally been a complex process, requiring advanced skills and equipment. AniML aims to democratise the technology, making it accessible to everyone via a simple iPhone app. The process is straightforward: users point their phone camera at the product and move around it to capture it from all angles. The app guides the user, making sure all angles have been properly captured then takes over, sending the user’s imagery to the cloud for processing.
AniML’s proprietary reconstruction pipeline (which uses a rendering process called “Gaussian splatting”) processes these images to generate a realistic 3D model. This technology allows users to create detailed and accurate representations of their products, perfect for online marketplaces and social media advertisements.
Doly’s user-friendly interface and sophisticated technology provide an easy entry point into the world of 3D product videos.
