Tesla has revealed plans for a Supercharger location in Los Angeles that will include a 2-screen drive-in movie theatre and diner alongside its charging points.
Based on construction plans filed with local authorities in California, the location on Santa Monica Boulevard will include two movie screens that will be showing 30-minute movies, which aligns with how long it takes a Supercharger to charge a Tesla.
The movie theatre will be open from 7am to 11pm, while an on-site diner will run 24 hours a day. The venue will include a carpark with 29 Tesla Superchargers.
An opening date has not yet been set for the location, but architectural modelling expert Ed Howard has released renders showing what it might look like.
The Supercharger venue is an interesting example of how a purely functional activity (charging an electric car) can be reimagined to make it part of a fun and experiential leisure or hospitality pursuit.
