Tesco is rolling out multi-brand refillable packaging from Loop in ten of its UK supermarkets.
A year on from launching on Tesco’s ecommerce platform, 88 products from various well-known food and drink, beauty and home cleaning brands, including 35 Tesco own-brand SKUs, will be available in-store.
Customers pay a deposit for each reusable container, which is then refunded once it has been returned to a Returns Point in-store.
According to Loop founder Tom Szaky, the launch is part of a total shift away from ecommerce and towards physical retail for the cross category sustainable brand, the brainchild of several global FMCG giants and TerraCycle. Tesco joins US supermarkets Fred Meyer and Walgreens, as well as McDonald’s and Burger King in integrating Loop’s reusable packaging into their stores and restaurants.
