Taiwanese card taps into 90s nostalgia with a magic wand for contactless payments

Taiwanese bank EasyCard has launched a limited-edition ‘magic wand’ that can be used to make contactless payments.

Familiar to many Taiwanese millennials, the Moon Stick originally appeared in hit 90s anime series Sailor Moon. EasyCard’s iteration is 18cm long and can make contactless payments before lighting up whenever a transaction is completed.

The limited-edition device was made available for pre-order from 18-24 January, priced at the equivalent of $65.
