Pronounced ‘sigh-key’, Syky is a web3 platform created to support designers selling both digital and physical versions of their products.
The platform is looking to bridge the gap between luxury fashion and blockchain technology, putting the infrastructure in place for virtual and digital fashion to fully take off. Founded by former Ralph Lauren chief digital and content officer Alice Delahunt, the start-up raised $9.5m in Series A funding in January 2023.
It’s designed as a platform to sell and trade products, share news and connect with others in the space. Syky’s NFT community platform Keystone acts as a membership pass, giving holders access to exclusive online and physical events, insider insights and early drops. The initial round of designers on the platform are focused on digital fashion, which is easier for emerging designers to test and iterate without having to produce physical samples.
There is massive emerging potential in the digital fashion space, particularly among younger cohorts. A 2022 survey by Roblox and Parsons School of Design found that 75% of Gen Z respondents would spend money on digital fashion, while 25% have spent $20-100 on a single digital item.
