In early 2024, skincare boutique Skin1004 opened a flagship storefront in Seoul, Korea, featuring impressive rock formations that offer customers an escape from the bustling city.
Liberating itself from cliched nature-inspired storefronts, green hues are not the core theme at Skin1004. Instead, untouched nature was the focus of this boutique design, formed with sand-colored tones and textured formations made to mimic the deserts of Madagascar. This contrasts with the busy cityscape outside and serves as a serene getaway for visitors.
The entrance boasts a monumental textured rock formation across the exterior and upon entering visitors traverse through reed landscapes and simulated water waves, with nature scenes projected on dedicated media walls. The space also features brass benches, curved windows and curated landscaping to enhance the sense of spatial depth beyond two-dimensional design.
Illuminative lighting is mounted across the ceilings, casting a gentle glow on a tall stationed rock sculpture in the centre of the main floor, offering a sensory experience for customers to touch. Leading up to the second floor is a reed forest-inspired staircase that customers can walk up to purchase cosmetics and a lounge area for visitors to enjoy.
Amidst growing popularity of design-forward storefronts, Skin1004 offers a calmer luxurious aesthetic to bring peace of mind and immersion to its many customers.
