Paint brand Sherwin-Williams has released an augmented reality app to make it easier to find, trial and buy the right paint products.

Using the ColorSnap Visualizer App customers can scan any item to find the nearest shade in the paint brand’s range. They can then use the AR-backed Instant Paint feature to virtually see what any 3D shape would look like in their chosen colour.

“Using emerging AR technology, this new feature virtually transforms a space before picking up a brush,” says Meghan Vickers, Sherwin-Williams e-business marketing director. “Instant Paint provides a fast, seamless way for homeowners and professionals to build confidence during colour selection.”

The app includes more than 1,500 Sherwin-Williams shades, and also allows users to create their own custom colours.
