The Samsung store in Santiago, Chile is using laser projection to enhance its product discovery experience.

Samsung’s S10 smartphones are being displayed on an island table that contains an interactive mapping application. LightScene laser projections combine with touch sensors to enable shoppers to activate videos by touching specific areas. This works in much the same way as a digital screen, but by using Epson’s LightScene digital display solution, the surface of the display itself effectively becomes the screen.

Retail is an area that Epson is focusing on for its suite of specialised projectors and projection mapping capabilities offered by their partners. According to Epson, projectors are a superior successor to digital screens in-store, which have become so ubiquitous that they are now little more than white noise for shoppers. Projection instead offers a more dynamic solution by being able to transform any surface into a display.

The installation was designed by Lumina Motion.
