Open Funk’s sustainable food processor is compatible with household jars

Open Funk, a German tech company, has introduced a sustainable food processor, known as the Re:Mix blender.

The Re:Mix blender operates seamlessly with standard canning jars of varying shapes and sizes, typically used for preserving items like jams and pickles. A twist-off lid measuring 82mm is the only requirement for compatibility.

Open Funk’s objective was to revolutionise kitchen appliance design by eliminating unnecessary components, making the design open-source, and enabling users to use items they already possess. Crafted from recycled and recyclable materials, the Re:Mix features reclaimed waste plastic panels, creating a speckled pattern that adorns the base holding the food processor’s motor.

Much like a Nutribullet, the appliance consists of a detachable blade head that is affixed to the jar containing the food. This assembly is then placed onto the motor and controlled using an aluminium knob on the front.
