LG launches AI-powered Menopause Mode for air conditioning

Women experience a range of changes and symptoms during menopause, with hot flushes being one of the most common.

Despite progress in breaking the taboo around menstruation, conversation around the menopause still lags behind. Some 7 in 10 people find menopause an awkward topic to discuss, leading to a general lack of awareness about its symptoms. LG’s latest Brazilian campaign addresses this gap by highlighting hot flushes, particularly their disruptive impact at night.

LG’s Menopause Mode feature uses a smartwatch app that pairs with an air conditioning unit. The smartwatch app monitors the wearer’s body temperature, blood oxygen levels and heart rate in real-time. When a hot flush is detected, the app sends a signal to the connected LG air conditioning unit, which quickly cools the room within 10 minutes, offering immediate relief without the need for the user to leave their bed. After the flush subsides, the air conditioner returns to its original temperature setting, preventing the room from becoming too cold and ensuring a comfortable night’s sleep.

This innovative approach not only provides a practical solution for managing menopausal hot flushes but also helps to bring the conversation about menopause into the open, promoting better understanding and support for those going through it.
