Lab-grown diamond brand Âme Jewellery uses the aesthetic of its New York flagship to champion its modern, sustainable, conflict-free processes.
Designed by Baranowitz + Kronenberg, the walls of the monochrome store are made of black slate to represent the industrial processes of mined diamonds, and the industrial past of New York. By stark contrast to this are the stainless steel bars and fittings that reference the brand’s modern, lab based production process. Throughout the store a series of vertical rods span from the floor to the ceiling to divide the space, while the synthetic jewellery pieces are displayed in museum-style glass cloches to playfully challenge traditional notions of luxury.
“The main theme of the design of the store is the combination between past, present and future,” said Baranowitz + Kronenberg co-founders, Alon Baranowitz and Irene Kronenberg.
“The duality of the historic architecture of Soho, New York with the cutting-edge modern design, inspired by this very architecture, creates an entirely new impression and reflects the very soul of Âme.”
