Koskenkorva uses regeneratively farmed barley to produce its sustainable vodka

Finnish brand Koskenkorva is making waves in its quest to become the world’s most sustainable vodka by using regeneratively-farmed barley.

Koskenkorva Vodka Climate Action, hailed as the first vodka of its kind, offers conscious consumers a sustainable choice. Partnering with the Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG), the brand is dedicated to promoting regenerative farming methods that convert fields into carbon sinks, mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity.

Anora Group, the owner of Koskenkorva Vodka, sees this as a significant step towards meeting its sustainability goals. The company aims to train contract farmers in regenerative practices and increase the share of regeneratively farmed barley to 30% in its grain spirits by 2030. Anora’s regenerative farming initiative has contracted 18 new farmers in the past year, significantly increasing the amount of regeneratively farmed barley used in production.

The Koskenkorva distillery, renowned for its circular economy practices, achieves a 99.9% recycling and reutilisation rate while reducing CO2 emissions by 46% since 2014. Recognised as Green Company of the Year in 2018, Anora is well on its way to carbon neutrality at the distillery by 2026.
