Flyfish Club, which is being referred to as the world’s first NFT restaurant, is a members club set to open in New York in 2023, which will only be accessible to holders of one of the company’s NFTs.
The 10,000 square foot establishment will include a cocktail bar, an outdoor lounge, a 150-seat restaurant focused on seafood and a private 14-seater sushi restaurant known as the Omakase Room.
To access Flyfish Club, consumers will need to buy one of two NFTs on the blockchain. The Flyfish Omakase token includes access to all of the facilities and costs 4.25 Ethereum, roughly $12,000. The Flyfish NFT, which costs 2.5 Ethereum or $8,000, includes access to everything except the Omakase Room.
The thing that sets Flyfish Club apart from traditional members clubs, or even country clubs, is that members retain value for their investment via their NFT token. They are able to sell their NFT on a marketplace like Opensea at any time. Additionally, they are able to lease their NFT by the month to non-members, creating an opportunity to generate an income via the asset.
As founding member and CEO David Rodolitz explains: “Membership is stored on the blockchain and owned by the token holder. It turns a membership into an asset for the people who join our community.”
Food and beverage costs are not covered by the NFT and are paid for in cash, rather than cryptocurrency.
Flyfish Club, which has been founded by entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk alongside New York restaurant and hospitality experts David Rodolitz, Josh Capon and Conor Hanlon, has not yet revealed where the location of its first club will be. On its website it states: “FFC’s first location will be in New York City, designed by a leading architect, in one of the most beautiful buildings that exists. The space will be both intimate and airy, with high-ceilings, special views, and curated moments all throughout.”
In addition to its facilities, Flyfish Club has said it will also provide its members access to a calendar of virtual and physical events and pop-ups.
The number of NFTs sold will be limited to 2,650 Flyfish tokens and 385 Flyfish Omakase tokens. These will be released in batches between now and the opening, which is set for Q1 or Q2 2023.
