Sustainable Spanish clothing brand Ecoalf opened its newest store in Madrid, constructed using 3.3 tonnes of recycled plastic.
The store is located in Las Rozas Village amongst designer and luxury brand names.
Using plastic sourced mainly from hospitals, Nagami Design breathed life into this project to prove the feasibility of using recycled materials in construction and call attention to the melting poles.
Nagami’s plastic extruder is essential for larger printing projects. For Ecoalf, the robotic arm was perfect to fabricate curved and wavy sections that mimic the snow erosion currently happening at the poles.
The interior of the store is made of 100% recycled plastic, and designed to invoke the perception of walking through a melting glacier. In addition to using reclaimed materials, all elements were produced in Spain to lower CO2 emissions. At the end of the project, the entirety of the store will be recycled once more. Manuel Jiménez García, co-founder and CEO of Nagami, hopes the store challenges viewers to ‘rethink the way we produce and consume to provoke a real change in the industry’.
