Flying Nest is a modular eco hotel made from shipping containers that can be dismantled and moved to different locations.

Each container is 12 sq metres and features a living area, private bathroom and bed facing a large picture window to offer views of whatever location the hotel is placed in. The ski-chalet-like cabins are powered by green energy and re-use recycled grey water. Terraces connect each container to each other, a design feature employed to encourage socialising.

The concept has been created by French hotel group AccorHotels and designed by Ora-ïto to offer one-of-a-kind experiences for guests. Some of the Flying Nest trials have included a night at Clairefontaine, where France’s national football team trains, and a stay six metres from the track at the 24 Hours Le Mans car race – giving fans of both sports unprecedented access.

The hotel has also been placed at the Agora biennial art festival in Bordeaux and the Rencontres d’Arles photography festival, placed alongside a temporary beach with a DJ, bar and food trucks.

It has most recently been placed 1,800 metres high at the Avoriaz ski resort, enabling guests to wake up on the slopes with views of the snow-capped mountain peaks.
