DishDivvy is a food-ordering platform founded in LA in 2018 that connects hungry Californians to home cooks.

Anyone can become a DishDivvy HomeCook, as long as they have a Food Handler Card, which can be acquired speedily online, and provided that they pass the platform’s vetting process, which is in place to ensure hygiene and quality: the process involves an on-site inspection, a face-to-face interview and a taste test.

After the vetting process the HomeCook’s are ready to go, and able to use DishDivvy’s software to create their own profile, set menu items and pricing, and take orders. DishDivvy’s software includes a smart calendar to enable cooks to plan their dishes around their personal schedule, and offers flexibility to set different pickup times and portion inventories from day to day. The platform also includes an in-app chat function so that cooks can communicate with customers about active orders.

The DishDivvy app arranges curbside pickups for orders, and cooks are paid immediately for each transaction, minus a 15% marketing fee that goes to DishDivvy.

Since launching in 2018, DishDivvy now has 500 cooks and 10,000 users across California, and it has just announced $1.3m in pre-seed funding to expand further across the country.
