Bandi is a circular fashion app that connects users with the same taste and body size, so they can swap clothes when they want to freshen up their wardrobes.

The brainchild of sisters Nicole and Frankie Theakston, who have always swapped clothes, the app aims to give everyone the tools to find people they can swap clothes with, who are referred to as “clothes twins.”

Bandi is positioned as an alternative to the “buy and throwaway” culture of fast fashion, aiming to reduce the carbon footprint without removing the fun.

“Going green shouldn’t mean going without,” says Nicole Theakston. “As a society, we have more clothes than we can possibly wear. We just need to put them in the right wardrobes. Bandi lets you swap ‘til you drop, building a wardrobe full of items you love without feeling guilty about looking your best.”

Once users are twinned through the app, they are able to speak to each other through direct message, where they can discuss potential swaps and send each other pictures of their wardrobes. It is down to the individual users to oversee the logistics of the swap.

Users can buy a hard-wearing Bandi-branded forever bag, which they can use for sending and receiving swaps from their twins, but beyond this there are no other money-generating elements to Bandi at launch.

Having started as a members-only community on Facebook, Bandi is now available via a free app with no subscription fee.
