Brewgooder, a purpose-led beer brand, has partnered with Brooklyn Brewery from the US to bring the UK its first beer infused with fonio, a ‘super-grain’ originating from West Africa.
Fonio, an ancient cereal known for its ability to withstand drought and thrive in nutrient-poor soil without the need for fertilisers or pesticides, boasts impressive sustainability credentials. This collaboration not only involves sourcing fonio directly from West African farmers but also reinvesting a portion of the proceeds to support the development of rural communities in fonio farming regions.
Sales of the Fonio Session IPA will contribute to The Brewgooder Foundation’s clean water projects in Mali, with the aim of providing access to over 20 million litres of water in fonio farming regions. By enjoying the unique beer, consumers actively support sustainable farming practices and positively impact water availability in Mali.
