French operator, Bouygues Telecom, is launching its “don de giga” (gigabyte gifting) campaign to raise awareness of digital exclusion and poverty.
In concrete terms, users can donate a symbolic 1 gig to support one of four associations, including APF France handicap, FAGE (Federation of General Student Associations), Petits Frères des Pauvres, and Social Builder (which combats the digital divide for unemployed women).
Bouygues Telecom explains that the process is simple and free, and is done within the application. It is as simple as clicking on the “Donate a gigabyte” section, selecting “I’m participating”, and selecting the association you want to support. Users’ data plans are not affected by the donation, which is symbolic.
This collection of gigabytes is available from September 29 to November 6. Bouygues Telecom employees will be first, followed by its mobile customers on October 7.
