Iconic Mattel toy company Barbie and luxury fashion house Balmain are partnering on a physical clothing collection and series of NFTs that celebrate the synergy between their two brands.
The Balmain x Barbie ready-to-wear collection and accessories line includes more than 50 pieces that are said to “marry Balmain’s polished French aesthetic with Barbie’s bold American style.”
To celebrate the new collection, three unique Balmain x Barbie NFTs were a put up for auction on the mintNFT marketplace. Each of the NFTs features a doll wearing a selection of clothing and accessories from the collection. The winner of each NFT auction was also sent the physical doll-sized Balmain x Barbie products shown in their digital asset.
To further blur the lines between the physical and digital worlds, the brands collaborated on a photoshoot with Chaos SixtyNine Magazine where real physical models dressed in the collection were made to look like Barbie dolls.
