B-AiR kitchen integrates robot technology into home kitchen environments

Tech company Moley Robotics is introducing its proprietary AI-powered robotic arm into home kitchen designs, allowing owners to enjoy chef-quality food at home.

Moley’s patented mini-manipulation system gives its robots fine dynamic control, letting them handle complex tasks with ease, even in unpredictable environments. Capable of preparing a selection of pre-programmed recipes from Michelin-starred chef Andreas Caminada and other award-winning chefs, the robot brings culinary excellence into home kitchens. The robot can be directed to maintain dietary preferences, whether it is focused on low-calorie, vegan, vegetarian or personalised nutrition programmes.

Operating automatically, the robot moves to cook meals with 8.65 kWh energy efficiency. The kitchens can be utilised in both automatic and manual modes. In manual mode, individuals can use prompts in the interface to precisely replicate cooking. B-AiR achieves a worktop depth of less than a metre through the lateral positioning of the robotic arm from the cooking induction system.

The system does have a number of limitations, however. While it excels at cooking, the robot can’t prepare the ingredients itself, relying on a human to chop and peel the ingredients first, placing them in boxes on a shelf ready for the robot arm to use them. It also carries a hefty price tag, starting at around £50,000 and significantly more for the full kitchen unit.
