Australia-based Axiom Holographics has opened the world’s first hologram zoo featuring lifelike 3D images of animals.
Situated in Brisbane, the zoo uses cutting-edge holographic screen technology to showcase a captivating array of creatures, including giraffes, elephants, dinosaurs and an enormous 82-foot whale. The zoo boasts a total of 50 holographic animals, each brought to life with a remarkable level of detail.
The expansive 16,000-square-foot venue houses two 65-foot tunnels enveloped by screens on three sides and 16-foot rooms with screens encompassing viewers on all four walls. In addition to its visual marvels, the zoo features 11 distinct four-player holographic arcade games. Meanwhile, the restaurant area showcases projections which can be enjoyed without the use of a headset.
The augmented reality zoo is built around tech from Australian tech company Euclideon, using its multi-viewpoint 3D display tables and Unlimited Detail graphics engine. Visitors are equipped with position-tracked glasses, enabling the graphics engine to generate distinct images for each eye viewing the screens. This apparently results in a much more stable and realistic hologram experience than previous iterations.
