Amazon’s Palm One scanning technology is being rolled out at music venues in the US, eliminating the need for patrons to have a physical or digital ticket.

To use the technology customers must first have their palm scanned by an Amazon one device, which creates a unique profile for them. Using the associated app, they can then link things like digital tickets and credit cards to their account. This allows them to enter and make payment at any locations with Amazon One Devices simply by scanning their palm.

Amazon first trialled the technology in one of its Amazon Go supermarkets in Seattle, where customers can pay using their palm. The Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver is the first music venue to use the technology, with others said to be set to follow suit in the near future.

The latest use case hints at a future where our biometric data, rather than our smartphones, keys and credit cards, will grant us access to products, services and locations.
