Popsquare is an AI-driven unmanned mobile store that collects data by recording and analysing which products passersby interact with.
The AI-enabled pop-up kiosks are being positioned in malls in Hong Kong and China. They use Big Data, computer vision, sensor fusion and machine learning to create an overview of how customers engage with and use each product. These deeper analytics can then be used by the brands to increase sales and reduce costs.
The computer vision capability provides insight into customer intention and, when coupled with the captured data, can predict trends and inform inventory investments.
From a consumer perspective, the Popsquare carts enable potential customers to discover and try new products in person. Everything on display in the kiosk is available to buy online via scannable QR codes.
The cart’s camera determines the customer’s age and gender, and displays appropriate information on a 42-inch screen installed beside it. It also picks up on actions, such as when a customer picks up a product, and displays information relevant to it. The screen can also be connected with an operator at a remote location, who is able to provide real-time customer service.
PopSquare has collaborated with brands such as Solcion and Fool’s Day. Most recently, it partnered with DesignNest, a consumer product design platform.
