Adidas partners with move-to-earn platform Stepn on NFT sneakers

Adidas has collaborated with Stepn, a move-and-earn app, to launch a limited-edition non-fungible token (NFT) sneaker collection.

The Stepn x Adidas Genesis Sneakers collection comprises 1,000 digital items inspired by Adidas running designs. This NFT collection marks the beginning of a one-year partnership between the two companies, which will feature additional NFT drops and physical wearable items.

The sneaker collection will be available through Stepn’s sister marketplace, Mooar, starting with a two-phase raffle on Wednesday. The NFTs are based on the Solana blockchain and will be priced in Stepn’s GMT tokens. Stepn, which launched in 2021 with the aim of incentivising exercise through rewards, has already garnered five million registered users.

While other brands have dropped out of the NFT market over the past year, this new collaboration shows Adidas believes there is still potential in the space, especially when digital goods are linked to physical items and rewards.
