Launched in August 2024, UK-based Newless is a bespoke upcycling service turning preloved pieces into custom garments.
It aims to reduce the environmental impact of fashion while making upcycling services more accessible. Its “Newless on Demand” initiative allows users to create a bespoke garment in five easy steps.
First, customers select a pre-loved garment from their closet that they believe is in need of redesign. Newless sends a mail-in kit that includes everything needed to take measurements and send in the item. Consumers then need to fill out a five-minute questionnaire relating to the size and style of the custom piece. The designer begins to work and will post out the new garment within five business days, reaching out to the customer with any further questions if necessary. Prices range from £70-150 depending on the article of clothing.
Newness is planning to host a series of pop-ups that will let customers have their garments upcycled live in under 90 minutes. These will be held as social sustainability events, giving customers a chance to collaborate with emerging designers while hanging out with friends. It will also act as a way for partnering brands to activate their retail spaces.
