US tech start-up Humane has revealed a working prototype of a screenless voice-activated AI wearable that projects calls and messages onto the palm of the user’s hand or a nearby surface.
Created by former Apple designers, the company is positioning the innovative piece of tech as something that could displace traditional smartphones by redefining our relationship with mobile devices. Instead of a physical object in your hand that constantly drains attention, the stripped back minimal interface is designed to allow users to be more present.
It responds to voice commands and a variety of gestures, also helping to make it more accessible to people with disabilities. It’s also apparently capable of live translation and providing ‘catch up’ summaries of emails, messages and calendar invites. The stand-alone device does not need to be paired with a smartphone.
