Atmosfy is an app that helps users to find restaurants and local establishments through short video clips.
Clips posted by locals and visitors allow users to judge the ambiance of a location and get a feel for what it’s like to be there in person. Essentially, it’s a blend of Yelp and TikTok, enabling users find out both what’s going on near them and elsewhere around the world. Locations can be filtered by hashtag, price range, cuisine and location. From an initial focus on eating out, the app has quickly branched out to include hotels and nightlife.
Founded in 2021, Atmosfy hosts video content from over 10,000 cities across more than 150 countries. The brainchild of Michael Ebel, a former US Air Force captain and the global program manager for Meta’s operational machine learning initiatives, the app has secured $12 million in seed funding, with Redpoint Ventures leading the investment.
Atmosfy’s novel approach aims to connect people with local businesses in a dynamic and engaging manner, using short videos to offer an authentic sense of the atmosphere at various locations around the world.
