Berlin-based food brand Veganz has introduced an innovative plant-based milk called Mililk, which is produced using a 2D printing process.
The oat milk alternative is produced in flat sheets using a 3D printer, at the size of an A4 piece of paper, with 10 of the sheets able to produce 10 litres of oat milk. This method of production and distribution significantly reduces packaging waste (by 90%, according to the company) while optimising storage space. The printing process also leads to significant reductions in packaging materials, storage volume and weight, positively impacting the CO2 impact by around 88%.
To prepare the milk, users simply tear off the required amount of oat milk sheet and blend it with water for about 30 seconds. Mililk also offers a longer shelf life and allows for easy portioning, helping to reduce food waste. The product is clean label, devoid of added sugar, and is gluten-free.
