Walgreens has opened what it calls a ‘digital first experiential store’ in South Loop, downtown Chicago.
Clearly a response to increasing levels of theft in city centre stores, there are only two shoppable aisles: with grab-and-go convenience food, drinks, vitamins and essential basics.
Everything else, including beauty products, is behind the scenes and has to be ordered from kiosks or online. Store associates collect items and deliver them to customers at the collection counter.
