Tonework uses AI to create personalised make-up products

South Korean beauty company Amorepacific has launched specialised make-up brand Tonework, which aims to provide personalised solutions by harnessing artificial intelligence (AI).

Tonework is able to accurately analyse individual skin tones and create tailored base products such as foundation and cushion. Through extensive research on skin tones from various regions around the world, Tonework has curated a collection of 150 unique colours. Customers also have the option to customise their formulations based on personal preferences, resulting in a wide array of 600 product variations.

The technology behind Tonework received the Innovation Award for Robotics at CES 2023. The brand is also the first certified vegan brand in the field of customised cosmetics, catering to the growing demand for ethical and sustainable beauty products. This commitment to sustainability extends to their packaging, which is crafted from FSC-certified materials and incorporates recycled plastic.
