Launched in 2022 by the founders of Depop, Delli is a digital food and drink marketplace for independent makers.
It allows these makers to sell food products using a model similar to the limited edition drops used by fashion and streetwear brands.
The tool makes it very easy for makers to sell in small batches and to connect directly with the community. Like Depop, the app holds strong appeal for Gen Z, who love a way to make some money on the side and to support independent makers. The company claims its model helps to reduce food waste and control cash flow and batch production for small businesses and individual makers.
It’s grown to become a community of over 200 sellers and leans into the growing appetite for local, quality produce that emerged during the pandemic. The platform has also recently begun hosting physical pop-up events with different line-ups of creators to meet the food lovers that support them online. An event at Brixton Market in London in 2022 will be followed up by another at the Truman Brewery in 2023, with plans for supper clubs and other more intimate events also coming later in the year.
