A new refillable station system by Japanese retail tech company Digi is helping to streamline the customer purchase experience.
Refillable stations in supermarkets and grocery stores offer a way for sustainability-minded consumers to cut down on excess packaging. However, they can also be a source of anxiety when it comes to dispensing, as the price isn’t shown until the product has been weighed.
Digi’s All-In-One Bulk System is looking to change that by displaying the product price and weight in real-time as it is being dispensed, just like at a petrol pump. The system can be used with a wide variety of items often found in the refillable or bulk buying area of a grocery shop floor, including spices, herbs, nuts, vinegars and oils. It includes three different types of real-time scales, the Hopper, Scoop and Liquid scales.
Importantly, the system also does away with the need for customers to factor in tare, or the weight of their container. This helps to reduce hassle and friction around buying refillables, smoothing the process for customers and grocery retailers alike.
