Brelyon’s Ultra Reality virtual reality monitor is the world’s first to be headset free and immerse viewers in a 110 degree panorama that takes up their peripheral vision. It is estimated to cost $5000 and is backed by Lockhead Martin with $15m in funding. The company has also partnered up with LG Display in order to take the product from the enterprise to the metaverse market.

Barmak Heshmat, CEO at Brelyon, explains the rationale behind his product and company: “We have been experimenting with VR and wearables for a decade now, and it turns out that most people really don’t like wearing stuff on their face for a long period of time. People have been using screens for extended periods of time for 50 years.
Our logic is pretty simple: If we can give you even half of the immersion of headsets with a device that doesn’t have to sit on your face and works with all existing content, then that would be a much more compelling progression of your computer experience and thus a better bridge to the emerging metaverse.”
