TikTok is set to launch dark kitchens across the US that will serve customers dishes currently trending on the platform.
The popular social media platform has partnered with Virtual Dining Concepts to launch the TikTok Kitchens, 300 of which will open across the United States initially. TikTok hopes to have up to 1,000 up and running by the end of 2022.
The menu will update quarterly to reflect the food that is currently being talked about and shared on TikTok. In 2021, a recipe for baked feta pasta went viral on the platform and became the most-searched recipe on Google that year, offering a glimpse of the power of TikTok to create hype around certain dishes and the potential for its monetisation.
Food delivery app Grubhub will handle deliveries from TikTok Kitchens.
