TV show Stoner Cats has taken a novel approach to monetisation: by selling NFTs of the show’s characters to consumers.
Only those who have purchased an NFT will be able to view the show. The NFTs were initially on sale on NFT marketplace OpenSea at a price of $785, and sold out in just 35 minutes.
The NFTs not only unlock access to the show, they also hand the owner a degree of control over future projects from the show’s creator, Orchard Farms. Token holders will be allowed to vote on and propose new projects going forward.
The NFTs can also be sold on for profit, with the NFT’s creators receiving 2.5% every time their design is resold. One Stoner Cat NFT sold on OpenSea for 30 ETH, equivalent to about $70,000.
