Korean denim brand LAB101 has opened a 24/7 unattended store in Seoul where visitors are authenticated via credit card upon entry and make purchases on tablets.

LAB101 is the first clothing store in Korea to operate 24 hours a day.

The concept of the theatrical flagship store is ‘Revival of Denim’. To capture this idea, some jeans are displayed like hospital patients: lying on operating tables with intravenous drips hanging above them in an attempt to ‘revive’ them. Others are displayed behind glass like museum pieces.

The space itself is reminiscent of the cold and lifeless aura of some hospitals, with the colour palette exclusively a stark, cold blue and a metallic grey.

A footfall cam provides data by analysing the in-store population count and congestion, while security tags fitted to the jeans sound an alarm if stolen. The tags can be removed after payment has been made at the self-checkouts.
